This is a design I came up with a few years back, but never built. A renewed interest in the design of the Cantilever Table prompted me to review my old metal base designs and try this one out. The base is made from a single sheet of ¼” steel and bent to my specifications. The top is a 2” slab of walnut with a live edge on the front side and a straight cut edge on the back to allow it to be placed tight up against a wall. The walnut is from “salvaged” trees around the state. The finish for the top is my usual hand rubbed hard oil-wax and the base is coated with a matte finish lacquer to keep it from further oxidizing.
